Parker & Partners, an Australian firm based in Sydney and Canberra, has won a $2 million contract to provide communications and public affairs services for Australia's pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Parker & Partners was selected through a competitive open tender process run by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Australia signs Contract of Participation

Australia marked an important milestone in its preparations for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo with the signing of the official Contract of Participation on the 3 July by the Commissioner General for Australia, Mr Peter Tesch, and the Director-General of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, Mr Hong Hao. Queensland Premier applauds Shanghai on Expo 2010 preparations

Premier Anna Bligh met with the Mayor of Shanghai, His Excellency Mr Han Zheng on 2 April, to sign Queensland and Shanghai's eighth sister state agreement.

“I trust good fortune will abound as this agreement covers a period of much activity, including the 20th anniversary of our sister state relationship in 2009 and the Shanghai World Expo in 2010,” she said.

Bligh applauded the efforts Shanghai had made in preparation for the 2010 World Expo and said Queensland would soon celebrate the 20th anniversary of the highly-successful 1988 World Expo that was held in Brisbane.

Australia appoints design contractor

Ministers responsible for Australia's participation at World Expo 2010 have today announced the appointment of Think OTS, as the contractor responsible for the design of the Australian pavilion.  This appointment marks a key milestone for the project and comes with 1000 days to go before the Expo commences. Australia is on track to be ready well in advance of opening day on 31 May 2010.

Australian delegation visit to Shanghai

A delegation comprising representatives of DFAT and the newly appointed design contractor Think OTS visited Shanghai for a range of meetings associated with the planning of Australia's pavilion at the Expo. During the visit the delegation briefed key stakeholders and visited the Australian pavilion site, which has now been cleared in preparation for handover from Chinese to Australian management.
