Cultural Program RFT released

22 August 2008

Today the Australian Government released the Request for Tender (RFT) for the Australian Pavilion’s Cultural Program at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) seeks to engage a high-quality service provider to design and implement a comprehensive and exciting cultural program to showcase talented Australian performers at the Australian pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo in 2010.

The cultural program will play a vital role in enhancing Australia’s presence at the expo by entertaining and engaging visitors to our pavilion.

Some 7 million people (up to 40,000 every day) are expected to visit the Australian pavilion during the six months of the Shanghai World Expo, which runs from 1 May to 31 October 2010.

The aims of the cultural program are to increase awareness of the diversity and talent of Australia's creative arts sector; celebrate the richness of Indigenous arts and culture; help promote Australia's cultural exports, having regard to the role and objectives of the Australia International Cultural Council; and be a powerful drawcard for positive media coverage of Australia, both at the expo and more generally.

The closing time for lodgement of submissions is 2:00 p.m. AEST Friday 3 October 2008.

An industry briefing outlining DFAT’s requirements for this Request for Tender (RFT) will be held on Monday 1 September 2008. The briefing will take place at the R.G. Casey Building, Barton ACT at 10:00 a.m.

Tenderers who plan to attend the briefing should notify DFAT by 4:00 p.m. Friday 29 August 2008. Contact Alexandra Seal via email at: expo2010shanghai@dfat.gov.au

The RFT documentation is available from the procurement page of the DFAT website from 22 August. The opportunity is being advertised nationally and on the AusTender website.
